
Sos Racisme organizes on April 25-26th 2019 the meeting Political hate speech. How can we counter it?
The aim of the meeting is discussing with journalists, activists, and social media experts about the rising of political discriminatory speech in Europe; the narratives of parties that spread hate speech against migrants, refugees and racialized people; the communication strategies of authoritarian populism: how do they spread hate through social networks? A workshop with activists will follow the meeting about building narratives to counter populist authoritarians. The aims of the workshop are:
– Deconstructing the narratives and metaphors used by authoritarian political parties in Europe to spread hate and discriminatory speech against migrants, refugees and racialized people;
– Identifying the crucial elements that alternative narrative to discriminatory speech should consider and include to counter effectively hate speech.
